| In its simplest form, if you compare the team for 2025 c/w the team that started 2024, we have replaced Nicholson with Yates and Drinkwater with Hayes / Leyland. From what Sam Burgess has said, Russell has been brought in to give us 'options' in the second row.
The halfback situation is a bit 'wait and see' as it depends upon whether / how quickly Hayes can come back from a serious injury, but having Leyland there gives us a Plan B.
In the pack Fitzgibbon's fitness is clearly a concern. He only played in 17 out of 33 games last season (and failed to complete 2 of those), so we're going to need Holroyd et al.
Before the 2024 season started, we lost Kasiano. He's never been replaced, and we've missed not having a big interchange prop. Musgrove doesn't seem to punch his weight and whilst Yates, Philbin, Crowther and Holroyd all give 100%, our pack lacks a bit of size.
I'm not worried about our 3/4s. Lindop, Wrench and Taylor-Wray are there for backup and to put pressure on the incumbents.
In summary, I see us as being neither weaker, nor stronger, than at the start of 2024.

Yeah strange one, low risk obviously but still in my view takes a spot that Thewlis Jnr could have taken sooner. I guess 50% of not very much is still not very much - wont be having a great impact on the cap, and obviously on loan would count as zero if that was the route we went down. Thewlis Jnr does not have a contract for 2026 and beyond as yet according to his brother in the WG. I would suggest that if Ollie does - Jake should! 100% agree - I imagine its in hand. Totally agree about Thewlis Jnr on the limited viewings I've had, he looks like a decent player in the making and one that isn't too far off at that, I must admit to being a bit confused about our Ollie's and our Alfie's reading the posts but not the article Alfie the winger I feel a bit sorry for but it's a tough sport and his performance in the cup game at Widnes would have been very hard for anyone to recover from

| The last 2 former souths teammates burgess has signed have hardly been roaring successes. Maybe he should leave that tactic alone.

| The Alfie signing was basically a Temu version of the Burrell signing and that was disastrous. Gimmicks. When will we ever learn?
I think it was done to pad out a very weak 2025 recruitment haul.

| Honestly signing Alfie doesn't bother me at all, He'll have cost us absolute peanuts and and only 50% on the cap. He has skills and a bit of size so if he works out happy days, if not it's nothing lost. Jake Thewlis i do hope we re-sign as he looks pretty good, him and Josh at Centre and Wing together i think would be a good combo.

| Alfie Johnson is on the same level as the amateur RL players I watch, he isn`t even good enough for a Championship team
