On holibobs this week, so making the most of it....
Off over to City Hull Thursday afternoon with Mrs BG, watch the game (and hopefully a victory!) staying over and then off to Sunny Scarborough on the Friday for a day by the seaside.....


Bliss. 

Over the last few weeks I think Smith and Faatili have developed an understanding and are a real dynamic threat, especially close to the line. As long as they're on together I'm not too fussed whether it's starting or after 30 minutes or so, though I lean towards Hood starting for his formidable defensive qualities.

Hull KR is the example I would give for Hood.
Smith played a great game but we were more dynamic when Hood came on and we scored the tries through that.

I agree that Liam looked sensational when he came on a changed the dynamic of the match... Even the commentators noted his contribution... However, that impact was fairly brief and a couple of telling errors followed, mainly (I think) because he was trying too hard. I thought when he came on against Catalans he looked jaded (by comparison to his usual self). 

He has put so much into this last season in super league, I just hope he can finish off with us in style. 


On the flip side Harvey Smith is growing game by game... What a talented kid he is!!

The flip could be said for Catalans though. 

I think we can just be happy that we have two 9’s who playing so well this year. 


It doesn’t need to be a who’s best option when they’re both doing the business. 


Doyle will have been expecting to start as interchange 9 this year but with the form of Hood and Smith he’ll have to slot in at 13 or elsewhere unless they need a rest. I didn’t expect that at start of season.

Harvey Smith is turning into a class hooker, but I just see Hood as more capable of dealing with Hull's starting middles in Ese'ese and Knight. He could take the sting out of them, allowing Harvey to come on and speed the game up when they tire. It's nice to have the option depending on your opposition's strengths and weaknesses.
