| Mr. Zucchini Head:His Bobness:
Definitely the biggest derby for 40 years. Who knows maybe the days of the 2 clubs regularly competing against each other in big games will become commonplace again.
Hull FC did exceptionally well against Wigan fair play. But you were getting hammered until Field went off and Keighran playing on one leg. And without doubt there was a Vegas hangover for Wigan. Even so there are 7 clubs grateful that you took advantage.
I'm fairly confident of a Rovers win, teams are struggling to get out of their own half and you will be coming up against a defence better than anything you have faced so far.
I'm not worried about making yards, or even about scoring points. You won't contain big Herman (you just won't, nobody does), and with Knight, Ashworth, Asiata, Cartwright and the 2 wingers we have plenty of guys capable of getting over the advantage line. Maybe you will be the best defence we've faced so far, but the way Asiata and Sezer are linking I think you'll find us the best attack you've faced this year (Saints were very one dimensional against you I thought). The bigger concern for me is dealing with your ruck speed and runs from DH. Fingers crossed for Mickey Mac playing big minutes. [/quote Some good points and I admit that Ese Ese, Sezer, Asiata and Lewis have been outstanding. The player that has impressed me the most is Sezer. The squad Rovers have built doesn't have any weaknesses at all though and if you can't defend you don't get in. That's the difference.

Lets have top4 clashes, semi finals and finals. If we are being honest a lot of the games in the SL era have been non events for those outside the city like 6th vs 10th with neither side going near Old Trafford.
Apart from the 2010 play-off game, this one feels like it's all on the line for both clubs within the same derby, a real winner takes all feel to it. As you say, too many of the derbies post-2006 have had a mid-table air about them rendering them of only passing interest to neutrals. Not sure how my nerves would stand up to cup final derby these days when everything really would be at stake, but it would be nice to find out! In todays world of where there’s blame there’s a claim no one will want to put their head on the chopping block be it the SMC, Council, Police or the RFL in terms of sanctioning the go ahead if the proverbial hit the fan again. Sad but thems the facts and once again a minority of eejits have ruined it for the majority of decent fans. Safety concerns will always be an easy out for those with the power. As I said earlier Chris if you were in that West Stand when the missiles started raining down all of which was carried on video's which spread like wildfire you can see why no-one want sanction such arrangements again. It was scary with kids screaming and mothers covering kids heads and it's still raw. Just a shame for all the decent Robins fans who can't get tickets as again the few spoil it for the many!!

The stadium wasn't designed with derby's in mind either in 1999 the idea of both clubs playing a sellout Derby wasn't even in either fanbases dreams as both clubs were skint and clinging on for survival. Another issue is the SMC by design doesn't ever think outside of the box, if they make a profit they have to share it with the council so the mentality has for years now just been 'break even, don't do anything risky' which is why we've had no concerts, rarely get international rugby or football u21s etc anymore. Plenty of clubs seat away fans above home fans, Newcastle and Sunderland being two examples so it can be done.

Lots of gnashing of teeth east of the city over their allocation
Understandibly, but this isn't our decision. Looks like the smc(not surprisingly) and hcc have put the boot in. The amount of them that can't understand this is ridiculous. Mike Ross could walk down Holderness Road with an A Board saying 'I did it' and they'd still be commenting 'FC won't give us tickets' sigh

Wouldn't want that jeopardising.

Mike Ross could walk down Holderness Road with an A Board saying 'I did it' and they'd still be commenting 'FC won't give us tickets' sigh It’s funny how they use the line FC are simply tenants at City’s ground with no say etc but now all of a sudden FC seem to have the power to over rule the SMC, Council, Police, RFL etc and just doing it to give us an advantage. I personally think it’s said that an occasion such as this can’t be enjoyed as it should and many decent fans will miss out. What the KR fans seem to be missing is this isn’t going to be just a regular run of the mill derby like a league game. Emotions will be running higher than anything we’ve seen in years five what is a knockout do or die game. The chances of some kind of trouble are sadly pretty high and with the recent history both FC & KR no matter if they both pleaded would make no impact on this decision. They can bleat all they like about it but this decision has nothing to do with FC and more about a very small section of their fanbase spoiling it for the majority of decent fans.
