| Maguire talking return in next fortnight rather than long term absence.

| Great news. The bloke has a great attitude and a bit of ability. I want him to get another shot, he seems to have fallen out of favour on here without even playing. Yes Amos might be a better fullback in that he can score those impressive full lengthers, but imo Phelps takes it back at the line harder, and is better at that link play (or chiming into the line) than Roberts or Richards.

I've not seen much evidence of that, to be honest.

| In the first couple of games, I thought Phelps' link up play was superb, he was able to pop into the line at just the right time and give a perfect pass or kick. I think the injury against Hull KR has really thrown him off this year, which is a shame. But it's provided Goulding with game time in which he has shone.

Some of his bullet passes are great, another skill of his is grubbering through behind the defense.

40 Seconds (ish) in is a good example of his creative side, and a perfect example of grubbers behind the defense at 3.22
[urlhttp://www.superleague.co.uk/video/player.php?id=527[/url
1.04 Phelps gives a long ball to Roberts to put him in (granted it needs some finishing) 2.57 Phelps links into the line and finds a hole, steps his way through and then provides Gleeson with a walk in.

Spot on mate.
I've said it before but for me we looked at our best when Phelps was at FB.
He's got a far superior rugby brain to Amos.

| I don't have any confidence with Phepls in the full back role defensively. I don't think he reads the game well positionally in defence and his tackling (he has managed to injure himself twice I think trying to tackle players) and decision making are questionable IMO.
He's a good on attack but then Roberts is better.

I'm not entirely sure about Phelps defensively either, but you can't argue he doesn't put his body on the line, and anyway, Phelps seems to have gone from good fullback to poor fulback on here without playing a game.
