Sinfield at hooker when there is a a specialised hooker on the bench ?
Widdop at full back yes he may have potential, yes he might be one for the future but to throw him straight in at FB shows a complete disregard to all young FB's in this country who have come through our systems..just because he plays for an Aussie team he must be good. Pathetic.
Scruton...farce
RFL why put the match on, on Saturday evening when England are playing..yes I know it is just before but to me poor planning or dictated to by SKY ?

He's only picked widdop, because he's after dual passport, making him eligible to be picked for the Aussies.
Macnamara would get slagged off for missing out on him of he turned up one day in the green and gold against us, as it is he'll just get slagged off for being crap!!!!

How is picking Scruton a farce?I think he's a cracking player. He might not be the flashiest of players, but he doesn't have graft and consistently puts in some good hits. I've always thought he has been very much over looked.

..and he is named as 18th man so England are playing with only three props and a extra 2nd row. Therefore eligible to play for Bradford which is a co-incidence as they have an injury crisis.
What's the point of naming a new player then not featuring him? One of Graham / Peacock or Morley should have been named 18th man to give him an opportunity as we all pretty much agree those three are certain to travel at the end of the season. |

Cannot agree with this.
Sinfield performed very well in the hooking role for England in the recent past, the hookers we play with all get murdered at the top level, there is no room for the scooting hooker in the modern international game, especially not from the start.
There is not 1 good English fullback, we are totally devoid of quality in that position. Widdop is playing in the best competition in the world and more than holding his own, added to this he has been one of the stand out players in the Toyota Cup against the best junior talent the Aussies have.
Widdop is not in the team for any other reason than he is the best English fullback we currently have, and by some margin. |
